to get to including the obama care website up and running a lot better than it used to be. first stretches of new york's commuter rail line are closed this morning after a deadly train crash over the weekend. four people were killed. more than 60 injured. 11 in critical condition. early morning metro north commuter train traveling south from poughkeepsie to grand central station derailed in the bronx. 100 people were on the seven cars which came to a violent stop just short of a nearby river. the train was only about 12 miles away from its destination and many were dozing off when the cars tumbled off tracks. tom costello joins us live from the scene. is there any indication about the issue of speed playing a role in the crash? >> reporter: that's the big question this morning, mika, because most of the passengers who were on said this train of traveling at a very high clip and the governor said he thinks speed was a factor and the engineer has told several people he tried to apply the brakes but they didn't work. that's the train behind me. there are four cars there. you can see

. did president obama deliver on his promise to bring the health care website back from the brink? the white house says as of today a lot of the tangled mess has been fixed, that 750,000 people visited the site by 5:30. jonathan karl looks at the whole picture right now. >> reporter: healthcare.gov may be working better but dan howard of freeport, pennsylvania has been trying to enroll for two months and is still out of luck. >> i can log on and amazingly i can log on darn quick, but whenever i finish my actual log in it says i can't go any further because i'm not verified that i'm me. >> reporter: he received a cancellation notice from his insurance company back in september. now howard is worried he's running out of time to get a new policy. >> i had a heart attack nine years ago. i'm terrified of not having a policy on january 1st. >> reporter: others experience delays. the white house says it's due to a huge increase in traffic worthy of cyber monday. 375,000 visiting the website by noon today. but this time for those who can't get in right away, there is a system that allows
. >> everybody please have a seat. >> reporter: president obama will talk about the benefits of the affordable care act today at the white house and will highlight the improvements made to healthcare.gov. the troubled website that just underwent a major overhaul. >> they're really trying to say to the american people give us another chance, give the website another chance. >> reporter: 750,000 users logged on by early last night. about double the traffic for a typical monday. the white house promised the revamped website could handle 50,000 users at a time. but when it reached about 35,000, a new queueing system kicked in putting thousands of people including june miles-mays into a virtual waiting room. >> very frustrating. because i need insurance so badly and it seems like something in the system or something is not working. >> reporter: the white house says the system works. the website did not crash. >> that is why we built that queueing system. so that we would improve the experience of those users who visited the site over what they experienced back in october. >> reporter: visits to the

. >>> the latest on the obama care website. white house now claims it has been fixed, working smoothly 90% of the time, but will consumers find that to be true. so much at stake for president obama and millions of americans seeking health insurance. and abc's jon karl has all of the latest from the white house. good morning, jon. >> reporter: the white house is not quite declaring mission accomplished. they say they've finally achieved their first goal, getting the website improved to the point where most people can use it to pick out health insurance. after two months of system crashes and error messages, the white house says healthcare.gov is working for the vast majority of people who try to use it. in a report filled with colorful charts and graphs. the white house uses to measure its success. some 400 software bugs and hardware problems have been fixed. the website can now handle 50,000 users at a time, 800,000 a day. it's now accessible 90% of the time, up from just 40% in october. the man in charge of the website reboot, gave his bottom line in a conference call with reporters. >>
